It’s a $7k fine for throwing the football into the stands, why? do you feel this is justifiable? even for the house team come the fans?

It's a security issue, according to the NFL.

You are watching: Fine for throwing football in stands

Players are allowed to hand the round to a fan in the stands, and you view that fairly often.

But handing a ball to a particular person sort of creates a clear carry of manage to a details person, with cameras and all that. It's not super likely that the fans surrounding are walking to jump on the guy to take the ball.

A sphere heaved right into the stands can - and will - be battled over.

That said, ns do believe that the NFL tho recovers all balls that end up in the stands either way.

It's dumb. Allow a fan have a souvenir.

I know they only have actually a certain number of balls obtainable for every game, however it seems prefer that can be increased pretty easily.

The organization makes $10B in revenue a year, but can't afford an extra 10 video game balls per game? Cmon

What's more, it's the team the purchases your own game balls, yet the league that fines them. Not sure if the teams fine them as well.

I feel the if it weren't, it would quickly escalate to football player throwing a ball into the stands not just after every touchdown, however then every 3rd down conversion, then possibly every catch, and suddenly so countless footballs are being thrown into the stands that it becomes and also unnecessary expense and you might even gain fans fighting end them or something.

So i think the NFL simply tells players not to perform it in ~ all. It's not something anyone demands to do, and also there room probably more ways it deserve to go wrong than right.
