You are watching: How much does a big block chevy weight

I have a guy telling me that a big block Chevy weighs roughly 200 lbs more than what a small block Chevy does.I was thinking the big blocks only weighed 100 lbs more than a small block.I am also talking a full cast iron engine on both big and small block. Can anyone please shed some truth on this subject? Thanks.
As long as everything is the same....cast heads, intake, ect, I think it"s closer to about 125 to 140 lbs.

That website says 575 for an sbc and 685 for a bbc. Someone else is trying to call me out saying a bbc weighs 200 lbs more than a sbc.
We generally use the 575 and 685 pound figures. Both engines all iron and pretty-much ready to fire up.pdq67

It"s more like standing at the airline ticket counter and having a gorgeous woman at the counter ask how she can help you, and you say, "I need two pickets to Titsburg, please"
